Prescription FAQ
Here are some frequently asked questions about diet pills. If you have any other questions that are not answered on this page, email us. We will be glad to help.
Do diet pills really work?
Yes. The FDA Approved diet pills do work. They are approved to be safe and to really work. The medications we use have been approved by the FDA for both safety and efficacy.
How do they work?
The main action of diet pills used in weight reduction is to reduce your appetite. Therefore you eat less food.
Are diet pills safe?
Yes, if taken as prescribed.
Are diet pills addictive?
No, we have never seen any evidence that they are, either through personal experience or in the literature.
What if I have high blood pressure? Can I take diet pills?
Yes. There are certain drugs that we will prescribe for those who have high blood pressure. Notify our physician and they will work with you on what medications will work for you.
What if I have Diabetes? Can I take diet pills?
Yes, a nice side effect is that they may even lower your insulin or oral medication requirement for Type II diabetics. However, they are not recommended for Type I diabetes.
What is Phentermine and can it cause heart valve damage or any other pulmonary hypertension?
No, Phentermine is an anorectic medicine that works on the "feeding center" in the brain to decrease your appetite. Phentermine has not been implicated in the diseases which were supposed to be caused by fenfluramine. It does need to be prescribed by a medical doctor though to make sure it is safe to use by any specific patient. Doctors around the world have used it safely on tens of thousands of patients.
Who should NOT take diet pills?
Anyone who has an irregular heart beat, uncontrolled hypertension, angina, hyperthyroid (overactive), glaucoma or are pregnant. It is best that you consult with your physician if you have any ailments that may cause concern.
Can I take diet pills if I am taking any antidepressant?
Yes, but only the SSRI varieties; Prozac, Paxil, Zoloft, etc., are okay as are the older Tryicyclics such as Elavil. You can not take these drugs if you are on a MAO inhibitor such as Eldepryl, Parnate, Marplan and Nardil.
Lipodissolve and Mesotherapy
Mesotherapy is used in a variety of cosmetic applications including: cellulite reduction, spot fat reduction and skin rejuvenation. Mesotherapy is the most successful cellulite reduction treatment available today. For body sculpting, Mesotherapy is a powerful alternative to procedures such as liposuction. Mesotherapy is a safe, non-invasive anti-aging tool to improve skin tone and texture.
What is Mesotherapy?
Mesotherapy is the practice of using microinjections of conventional medications and/or vitamins into the mesoderm (middle layer of the skin). This process enables healing or corrective treatment to a specific area of the body.
Mesotherapy for Spot Fat Reduction
Is it possible to get rid of fat without having an invasive procedure? For those who find liposuction too much, Mesotherapy for spot fat reduction and body sculpting is the answer. For patients who have already had liposuction and find fat depositing in other areas, Mesotherapy is the answer.
Microinjections of an individualized fat burning formula are given directly into the areas being targeted (love handles, arm flaps, saddlebags, etc.) A series of treatments (5-15) are given spaced two weeks apart. Results are considered permanent as long as the patient adheres to a proper nutrition and exercise regimen. Occasional touch-ups may be required. Mesotherapy benefits for spot fat reduction: specific to areas of concern, individualized fat burning formula, non-invasive office procedure with no downtime.
Mesotherapy - Frequently Asked Questions
What are the benefits of Mesotherapy over surgical techniques such as liposuction?
Mesotherapy treats cellulite directly and the result is a smoother skin surface. Mesotherapy also targets fat reduction in trouble areas. The fat deposits flush out of the specific microinjection sites and the body does gain the weight back in other areas. Mesotherapy is a non-surgical procedure that does not require hospital admittance, general anesthesia or downtime.
How many treatments will I need?
This will vary according to the amount of fat and cellulite to be treated. The number of visits can be anywhere from 4 to 10.
How fast will I see results?
Results vary based on your body type and severity of the condition. On the average, results can be seen in two to three sessions.
Will the results last?
The results do last. Mesotherapy is not alternative to a healthy lifestyle but it is a powerful tool for addressing fat, cellulite and aging. Occasional touch-ups may be required.
Are treatments painful?
A slight pinching or burning sensation may be felt. We use a topical anesthetic gel and spray to help diminish this.
Are there any side effects?
You may experience bruising which resolves over a few days. Cool compresses can be used to reduce any discomfort. We also prescribe a Mesotherapy post treatment cream to reduce bruising. Bruising can be reduced by minimizing or discontinuing use of aspirin, Advil, Motrin, Ibuprofen, alcohol and Vitamin E for 5 days before and after treatment.
